Working with Curated Bundles
Many quilters find fabric selection to be the most stressful part of quilting. Working with a curated bundle takes the worry out of fabric selection. I chose these prints from the Juicy Summer 10" square pack - such an inviting collection of pinks, oranges and yellows!
But...what color to choose for the block background? I auditioned a bunch of different colors before I made my choice. Let's take a look.
I started with white. Definitely works, and definitely allows the colors to pop. But I wanted to try something a little more unexpected.
So let's head in the opposite direction - black solid. The colors pop here as well, but I decided I didn't want to go quite this dark.
What if we head to the opposite side of the color wheel? Here's a lighter aqua, which works - it reminds me of a sunny blue sky.
I tried a darker turquoise as well - I like this deeper contrast - I think it makes all the colors brighter.
Then I decided to try different colors from the warm palette. First pink, which I didn't love - it's too close to the values in the prints.
What about yellow? This value is much lighter, so the prints still pop. It's warmer too. I like the look of staying on the same side of the color wheel for a very summery quilt.
While I liked the turquoise, I ultimately went with the yellow because it's a different look than what I'd usually choose. Which color would you pick for the background?
