Tear-Away Embroidery Backing

Tear-away embroidery backing is a temporary stabilizer used to support fabric during machine embroidery. After stitching is complete, the excess backing is removed by gently tearing it away from the design.

Tear-away stabilizer is best suited for stable woven fabrics that do not stretch and is commonly used for kitchen towels, scarves, woven garments, and many in-the-hoop embroidery projects. It helps support the fabric during stitching and can reduce puckering, distortion, and tunneling.

Unlike cut-away embroidery backing , which remains behind the stitches for continued support, tear-away backing is designed to be removed after the embroidery is finished.
