F is for Flannel

Chilly fall temps are here and it's time for some flannel fun!
Our Flannel Sn'Gnomies Pillow Kit makes one 18" square fringe throw pillow - so soft and cozy!

The pillow uses two sizes of squares:

Pair each small square wrong sides together with a matching square. Stitch diagonally from corner to corner in both directions to secure the two layers. Repeat with the large squares.

When you sew the stitched squares together, use a 1/2" seam allowance - this creates room for the fringe.

Join two pairs of small stitched squares to make a four-patch unit. Keep seam allowances pressed open.

Lay out the four-patches and large stitched squares into two rows of two.

Sew into rows (using a 1/2" seam allowance) and join rows to make the pillow top.

To create a finished edge on the backing piece, press one long edge over 1/4" and then another 1/4". Stitch down the edge. Make two.

Layer pillow top right side down and both backing pieces right side up on top, matching raw edges. (Backing pieces will overlap in the middle to create the "envelope" opening.) Stitch all around the the outer edge using a 1/2" seam allowance.

Use a sharp scissors to clip the fringe on all seam allowances. Wash and dry the pillow cover to fray the fringe.

Insert the pillow form and enjoy your pillow!
