Description

DIY Protective Mask Kit

The CDC has recommended the use of face coverings to cover mouths and noses while in public. Sewing your own masks for you, your family, and your community will allow health professionals to reserve the medical-grade protective masks for themselves and their patients.

Sit n’ Sew wants to do their part to keep the country healthy and safe and see this pandemic out the door as fast as possible. We’ve assembled these kits with our community in mind, and made them super simple for even beginning sewers. Plus, these Sit n’ Sew face coverings with filters are completely precut—all you have to do is sew them together!

What’s Included in the Kit?

Each kit comes with all that you need to create a 3-layer protective mask. The kits contain precut fabric made from 100% cotton for the outer and lining fabric as well as a third layer of non-woven filtration media that can be sewn between the layers.

Elastic strips for the ear loops are also included in these kits. The pattern and instructions offer directions for two styles of elastic ear loops, as well as alternate instructions for using a single strand tie. Each package includes the materials to sew 4 one-size-fits-most face coverings with filters.

FAQs and Important Info About Our Face Masks

*Disclaimer: Masks made from the Sit n' Sew kits are not surgical masks or filtering face piece respirators. They are not recommended for use (1) in any surgical setting or where significant exposure to liquid, bodily or other hazardous fluids may be expected; (2) in a clinical setting where the infection risk level through inhalation exposure is high; or (3) in the presence of a high-intensity heat source or flammable gas.
